Maple Fest

March
National Maple Syrup Month

The maple sap is running and the Elegant Farmer invites you to enjoy National Maple Syrup month at its Maple Fest in March. The fest includes maple syrup making demonstrations along with special pricing and selections of maple syrup & sugar products, maple muffins, Wisconsin maple popcorn and much more.

“One of the first signs of spring is when the sugar maple tree sap starts to flow. We invite you to come and learn how maple syrup is made and taste the finished product.”

- John Bauer

Genuine maple syrup comes from the sap of sugar maple trees. It is harvested in the very early spring when the days are warmer but the nights still frost. The United States produces 14 percent of the world’s maple syrup creating 1.45 million gallons in 2007.

The Maple Fest maple syrup demonstrations are conducted by special guest Peter Hatlestad, Nature Director at Covenant Harbor on Saturdays, March 1, 8 & 15, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. He and his staff will showcase the process used on raw sap to make it into that delicious treat we know as maple syrup.

“People enjoy seeing where their favorite foods come from and how they are made. From teaching people about apple varieties or maple syrup making demonstrations, The Elegant Farmer is committed to passing on the gifts of goodness from the farm to our community.”
